Frequently asked questions
Clear answers to the most common questions about Equiconscism, the white paper, and its author.
What is Equiconscism?
Equiconscism is an economic and societal theory of conscious balance, developed by David Fiorucci (LP3 AG / SA, Switzerland) and published in 2026 as a free white paper. It conceives of balance not as a state to be reached but as a dynamic, continuous, and differentiated process through which people, organizations, and societies adjust their decisions so that the economy, society, and the living world support one another.
What does “conscious balance” mean?
Balance is not stillness but a regulated movement—like a pendulum held by a hand that holds without gripping. “Conscious” means seeing what we do and what it produces, and answering for it. Conscious balance keeps the swing inside a corridor of right measure, between dignity floors and ecological ceilings.
Is Equiconscism a form of degrowth?
No. Equiconscism rejects both blind growth and punitive degrowth. It asks that we optimize within a corridor of right measure rather than maximize a single variable such as GDP: “measured” does not mean “small.”
How is it different from Doughnut Economics?
Equiconscism extends Kate Raworth’s Doughnut (social foundation, ecological ceiling) dynamically: it applies floors and ceilings to every level—person, family, organization, municipality, state—and adds the consciousness that regulates the swing, through a five-movement cycle and ten key questions.
What are the ten key questions?
Meaning and Purpose; Inner / Outer Balance; Overall Impact; Inclusion and Listening; Shared Responsibility; Timing and Cycles; Power and Consent; Regenerative Innovation; Legacy and Example; Joy and Vitality. They can be used as a compass before any decision, and as a scorecard from 1 to 5.
How does Equiconscism relate to Ravi Chaudhry’s Peopleism?
They are complementary. Peopleism (Ravi Chaudhry, Capitalism to Peopleism, 2024) proposes a macro vision of capitalism’s evolution based on capital, people, and nature; Equiconscism works mainly at the micro and meso levels while linking them to the macro level.
What is the link with the encyclical Magnifica Humanitas?
The white paper documents a convergence of criteria with Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas (May 15, 2026)—measure, metrics beyond GDP, subsidiarity, human responsibility for AI—while remaining nondenominational. It is a convergence, not an endorsement.
Is Equiconscism religious or political?
Neither. It is nondenominational and nonpartisan. It dialogues with the world’s wisdom traditions and religions without asking anyone to give up their faith or absence of faith, and it speaks to all political sensibilities.
What are the Ten Commandments of Equiconscist AI?
Ten principles for designing, deploying, and using artificial intelligence: AI in the service of human dignity and the living world; decisions kept in identifiable human hands; truth about the machine; no manipulation; privacy and consent; fairness; measure in energy and resources; growth of human capacities; shared power and value; and a hand on the off switch.
What is SALTER and how does it relate to Equiconscism?
SALTER® is a diagnostic compass by David Fiorucci that names six fractures of our time—Saturation, Artificiality, Lability, Tribalism, Evasion, Rupture—and six levers. SALTER names the imbalances; Equiconscism provides the theory and the path toward balance. See www.salter.ch.
